Refurbishment of MidPoint 19 Building
Since 2014, PIX participated in the refurbishment of the Midpoint 19 building, located on 19th Street with Carrera 33, in Bogotá. Initially built like a candy factory by the Pepsico company, the building was wholly reformed, starting with its structural reinforcement for compliance with the NSR-10 (Colombian Seismic Code). In its conversion to office use, the primary objective of the intervention was the complete replacement of the equipment and installations in it, and compliance with international standards such as the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association). Likewise, the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) issued a LEED Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
The creation of unique and highly efficient office space, with 4.5 m heights, 1,500 m2 floor plates, and the most updated technical specifications resulted in the turnkey lease to a government agency. A renewed office building with air renovation systems, air conditioning, Led lighting, fire protection systems, emergency power generator, and efficient elevators among others. The new facade with laminated glass and European structure reduce the thermal load and gives a modern and current image to the building.
With this project, PIX achieved the recovery of an old structure contributing to sustainable development in an area of accelerated urban renewal, thus creating a building that meets the highest technical standards with minimal impact on the environment.
